Van Bosch, Cobus

Cobus van Bosch, born in 1962 in Cape Town, is a contemporary South African visual artist focusing on the human condition in South Africa and elsewhere through the medium of figurative oil painting.
He explores themes related to identity, culture and society, with particular focus on the intersections between the past and present. His work often critiques social norms, colonial legacies and the nature of South African identity, past and present.

Van Bosch has held numerous solo exhibitions across South Africa, and his works are preserved in public, corporate and private art collections across South Africa. In 2013 he won the Kanna Award for best exhibition at the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival in Oudtshoorn. He currently lives and works in the Karoo town of Prince Albert.
